Hello, Garrus. [This is unexpected and rather touching.]
We are safe so far but with that man you can't never be sure of anything. We wanted to speak to you about what he could do. Imperial have a talent for twisting people's minds.
[Garrus has zero clue what's come over him. He hates AIs. Sure, he had come to view Kay as more of a friend than a program, but that was it. That was totally it. Except ever since after the Breach, his feelings towards Kay have been... different. Good different, not bad. And he kind of wants to ask him out? It's freaking him out a little, but he's sure that once he spends some one on one time it'll solidify his feelings as friends.
Unless he likes him back? Because really that'd be pretty great. Because then he could lean into his tall, metallic frame without anyone questioning it.
He almost texts the droid to save face but if he's going to do this, he's going to do it right, damn it. So when Kay answers, he'll see a slightly nervous turian on the other end.]
Hey. [Say something cool.] How's your programming?
["How's your programming?" Really, Garrus? Ugh, kill him now.
If only Shepard could see him now, smitten with a droid.]
[Luckily for Garrus, Kay finds the question quite endearing because it shows that the turian is taking in consideration that he's speaking to a droid.]
Hello, Garrus. I'm doing well, cleaning after the mess left by the spirits. And you?
Everything comes with lead and eraser refills, a few thin notebooks, binders with looseleaf paper, and a pencil board. There is one nice notebook with a note attached:
[Kay is goign to have fun with the package. He didn't expect Grell to buy him so many things after their conversation and the encouraging words are a plus. He will thank her as well as he can.]
[Rapunzel has left a present. it's a pretty big present. What is the present? Why a painting of course. The painting is of Kaytoo being friendly and helpful to a long blond girl. Herself. The painting came along with a note...]
'I wasn't sure what kind of painting you wanted, but for all of the help you have given me, I thought I would paint on a canvas just for you. I hope you like it.
[Kay can't help but stare. He values all the presents he gets because in his world no one gave him anything. But this one seems really special, since she did it all by hand for him. He has to put it in a special place in the house.]
A present is delivered to K-2SO - notedly, to his workplace at Velvet Lust, not to the guardian station or his home.
Sensors will detect no danger, and when he opens the nondescript brown packing paper, he will find a wooden box. There is something distinctly Everglade about the finely grained black wood and ornate brass fittings.
Inside lays a clockwork heart of red glass and silver metal, the glass warm to the touch and glowing eerily. If you hold it long enough it will feel like it pulses in your hand. Everglade, indeed.
Tucked against the side of the box is an electronic message written on Nova City's counterpart to flexis.
I tried to find something less macabre, but nothing else got the point across like this. - Cassian
Calculations will tell that it is too light for the material used. If the key at the top is turned it will indeed open, to reveal it is hollow and empty on the inside. The screws can be turned as well, just like the small cogwheels. It will take just the right combination to reveal another compartment. It holds a single white Lullaby pill. While Kay will know he has more than one, he hopes this will indeed get the point across.
[After opening the presents Kay is left in such state of surprise that it takes his seconds and incredibly long time -2 seconds- to process what he is seeing.
After that, Kay holds the heart close to his chest, asks permission to leave work early and goes to find Cassian. Time to show his boyfriend how much he appreciated the gift.]
[ She's just going to leave him a message because she's pissed off right now and he already hung up on the other conversation. She would've just dropped it, but apparently he's just not getting the picture. ]
Cassian has been calling me and texting me after I've told him I don't want to talk to him, I'd be willing to bet one or both of you swung by the apartment which is why I moved out because I don't want to deal with you, and now you're following me around and calling me names and basically just telling me that I'm unimportant, childish, a liar, insecure, petty, all because I said I wanted to be left alone and you don't like that I have a different opinion than he does. That's exactly harassment. I've been saying to leave me alone for weeks and you're saying I don't have the right to be pissed off when someone gets me to trust them and tells me I don't have the right to be happy, but then goes off and-- if he told you anything else was the problem, he's trying to cover his ass, K2SO.
Anyway, the reason I'm leaving you this message is to make it official. Either he didn't tell you that I told him to leave me alone or you seem to think that doesn't apply to you, so here's the official statement: screw off, I don't want anything to do with either of you, and remember what I said about coming after me again.
[ She's not going to respond, she just wanted to make that clear. ]
[Kay wasn't even going to reply to the message either and chances are that he will delete it right after he listens to it for the first time. if he bothers to finish it, that's it.]
Edited (I can do english, promise) 2017-08-27 21:49 (UTC)
Cassian has this little quirk of being too shy awkward to hand over presents in person, and this time is no different.
He had to leave early today while Kay was still charging, it's the perfect opportunity to leave a little something on the nightstand for him.
It's a nondescript box wrapped in tasteful, but generic mint-green wrapping paper, with a blue bow. The only sign of its contents is Cassian's still-messy handwriting, in big, bold Outer Rim Aurebesh letters, saying
HANDLE CAREFULLY DO NOT SHAKE OR DROP
Once the wrapping paper has been removed a more familiar style of ammunition box comes to the fore, holding the brand symbol of Nexus Defense Industries.
He will find five Nova City-style stun grenades nestled in the box, along with a flexi whose message is simply Thank You
[At first Kay eyes the box with distrust, until he spots Cassian's handwriting and relaxes. He doesn't think he's done anything to deserve it so he's a bit surprised for the present.
And what a lovely present it is. He picks up one of the grenades very carefully to inspect it, almost cooing with happiness. Time to talk with Cass and thank him.]
K-2SO, I saw your announcement. I want you to know that I'm upset, but I'm not going to seek retribution for what you did. I understand you did what your programming told you is best to contain the damage at a time when your commanding officer is compromised.
But I'm not going to apologize for anything I said. You wouldn't believe me anyway.
I'm ISB. I'm loyal to the Empire. I'm proud of who and what I am, and of my work. You used to be proud of it, too, before whatever happened, the thing that turned you into a rebel agent. I'm not going to offer fixing you, though it's obvious you need major maintenance, but you would take that as a threat in your current state.
Look, I understand you're upset, but you have just informed everyone during a time of grave danger that the Attleton Guardian's office is weakened. Now this town is going to be preyed on my vultures. You better kriffing know what you're doing, or I'll personally see you scrapped for endangering every life in this town.
I have dug around the network some more. Read more of your private conversations.
I guess I can't deny that he loves you.
I understand a little bit better now why you were so angry with me.
You don't hate me so much for who I am, but for who I am not. I'm sorry I'm not him.
It's strange for me, too. I had some time to calm down. I still don't know how to deal with this but you're not going to respond anyway. I'm just writing to you
I don't even know why.
Nothing makes sense. It's not easy waking up living the life of your enemy. Realizing you have the capability to be everything you hate and fight against. I lashed out at you though I was angry with myself. Is that something HE does, too? I'm curious. I want to know more about him, but I'm also afraid to find similarities.
I'm not him. That rebel and I shared the same DNA and maybe some backstory but that's it. I won't apologize for not being him. I woke up and realized some stranger should have been laying in bed next to me. I know I didn't handle it well. I don't know what I'm hoping for.
I guess I'm curious. I want to know where I went wrong. But I want to know about you, too. I just want to make sense of it all.
[A medium bouquet of flowers addressed to Kay lies on his doorstep. By the time he discovers them, Jaune will be gone. Hyacinths spill out, delicately framed by the weeping spider lilies, bright red against the purple flowers. A few daffodils poke out, sunshine against the sorrow, while white heather protects. It's a strange combination, but he asked for help and Jaune hopes Kay gets the idea. Tied to the bouquet is a simple square card that just says in a messy scrawl:]
[Kay likes flowers, he can smells them due to his receptors and, in general they mean a lot to him. His first thought is that Cassian sent them but after inspecting the note, he realizes that's not the Captain's handwriting.
He puts the flowers in water and keeps the card, ready to investigate to figure out who sent them. He already has an idea of which one of his friend could have done this.]
[JUST SHOWS UP THE FUCK OUT OF NOWHERE, but given that Marco is in a half bird, half-transformed state, and looking a little out of breath, it'd be reasonable to assume he flew the whole way.]
[And he just hands K2 a flashdrive.] I need you to do a robot ninja tracking thing. Grell's the computer genius, and Espio knew some, but I'm so useless, I thought my computer was bleeding internally when it got stuck typing all in red. [Grell told him it wasn't, but he's still not sure on that!!!!]
I'm pretty sure it was a code to me, but I don't know how to track it and none of my family here can either.
One time Espio stashed a ton of purple turnips in our room and I thought Grell was trying to tell me she was pregnant or something. Point is, I know it's weird, but I'm pretty sure it's her with some coding, or her kidnapper assholes taunting me and either way if I can get coordinates...
[Okay so a fiery bird-man is not something Kay was expecting to see while he was shovelling snow from the entrance of the house. On the bright side, it's helping melt the snow. Kay takes the flashdrive carefully and he would be raising an eyebrow at Marco if he had them.]
Okay, I'll see what I can do with this. I'm not entirely sure what purple turnips have to do with pregnancy. Is that how it works in your world?
[Kay puts the shovel aside and opens a panel in his left arm. Under it there's a small row of ports of different sized. He stick the flashdrive in one of them. His optics flicker.] Oh, is that strange message about the birds...
[ He's sitting in bed, sipping his coffee and eating a sandwich for a lazy Sunday-off-from-work breakfast when he sees it - right there on the front page of the Genessia Tribune, the proud announcement of Nova City's robot fighting league. The logos of the teams are colorful and magnificent, yet to Cassian it's like a punch in the gut.
And then again, since he knows Kay must have seen the newspaper already, having brought him breakfast, newspaper included.
He bites down on his bottom lip and lets the newspaper drop onto the bed. ]
[Kays is sitting close to Cassian, on the side of the bed that's reinforced and equipped with his recharge station. He's fidgeting with the ports of his left arm, seemingly distracted.
He's seen the news and wasn't exactly pleased by them but he didn't want to burden Cassian with his annoyance. Not when they finally have a quiet day to themselves. when his name is called, he turns to face his boyfriend, voice soft.]
